Rainy Saturday

Hi all! Today I woke at 630 (before my alarm, can you believe it?!). I realized the power was back on so I decided to get my word document (of what we did yesterday) and get it posted on the blog. Then I woke the girls at 7, and the morning routine began. We did good to get ready and out the door on-time. We walked up to Doug and Peggy's where the Saturday English service group meets (8:30a).

Aliah, Asa and I were put in Peggy's car group with Hariette, the sister from FL that traveled with us. We went to a beautiful country side here in Volcan, of which I will post pictures. Too I will post a picture of me at my first door alone. No one came. As you can see you just stand at their gate and say "hola" or "beunos dias" then if someone comes you say "habla espanol?" If no, then you ask if anyone in "su casa habla espanol?"

I got one guy in service..he was like a lot of American's..believes the philosophies of men and not open to any reasoning.. but pleasant-ish enough. It was still nice to speak with someone and I gave him my best. Then the very next house was Harriette's and she took Asa with her. We left them and carried on to the next house.. No English speaking people there and so we waited for the girls to catch up.. and waited and waited. Til finally I walked back to the house and couldn't see them. So Peggy pulled her truck into their driveway and I tried not to be nervous..thinking all these bad things that could have happened to them.. eeek   Shortly they appeard in the open doorway with smiles and I then knew all was okay :)  Come to find out that house she was at..there was a gentleman there who is from Alabama/Florida and he only speaks English. His wife is Panamanian and they just had a baby and were visiting her parents (that's whose home they were in). The husband was eager to study the Bible, and the extra kicker was that his in-laws are studying the Bible with Jehovah's Witnesses in Spanish! The Bible Teach book was laying out on the coffee table. It was mooost remarkable!! That call ended our service day.. our great and beautiful service day. (12:30p)

Since then (it's now 3p) we stopped by a local grocer, I was able to get trash bags, zip locks, and a few other necessities. It started raining then. We walked home from Doug and Peggy's as it sprinkled.. At home we swept the house/back porch/front porch. It started raining harder, we mopped the house and front porch. I did the dishes (which are more of a task then at home, you have to use clean water to wash/rinse, which is an interesting process), sprayed down everything that doesn't move with bleach (and as you know I don't like to use chemicals) and then I ran a load of clothes (which are admittedly still in the washing machine). The washer is outside on the back porch and so is the clothes line (I need to get re-motivated and hang them). Tho it is still raining I can hang the clothes under the cover of the back porch. I was going to take pics of the outside of the house but the rain has put that on hold for me now.

See the rain and the blue skies beyond the rain?

I thought you weren't supposed to pass cows??
I think I will take a nap, then read the Watchtower for tomorrow, then do dinner and possibly go to the meeting in Spanish at 6 tonight. We will be soooo lost but it will be loads of fun:)  All my love!

P.S.While you are there can you find out the prices for tooth removal,Root canals, implants, dentures and crowns? If they have a business card or written info I'd love to have it. My teeth are SO MESSED UP!!!If it is cheap enough it may be worth going there when the time comes to have all of this major dental work done....(probably sooner than I'd like).Thank you Valora!
