Yesterday the Brother from Boquete met up with our service group at lunch to give me my camera. So I was unable to take many pics yesterday. I really would have loved to show you pics of the friends in the English group, or who at least support the English group in David.
So yesterday started with a trip down the mountain, from Volcan to David, which was nearly an hour drive. A very very beautiful hour drive, of which I didn't get to take pics of :(
Anyhow, we made it to the Kingdom Hall where there were many friends standing outside talking. We all introduced ourselves with hugs and kisses and of course the amazing-ness of the brotherhood was really shown. We had already met one of the missionary couples that support the Wednesday group, they come since friends from all over come (tho they are assigned to Spanish)..and I had fallen in love with them last Wednesday when we ran into them on our way to Boquete. The wife is soooooooo wonderful!! And we fortunately got put in their car group (at least Aliah, Asa and I did- Zoe went with a different group). They only were able to stay out for a little over an hour since Wednesday's is their day to cook the meals for the missionary home. But I loved every second I got to spend with her! She is just like a shinning light, the love that she eminates! In talking with her inbetween doors, which is an experience in itself:), I learned that she and her husband were in Bethel for several years before going thru Gilead to become Missionaries. That was fun to listen to, but even more exciting was the whole process of them getting accepted to Gilead! It was like a movie, very exciting and suspenseful!! There was a to-be-continued session for next Wednesday when I see her again :)
After she and her husband parted from the group we merged with Aidan and another brother.
PAUSE.. I have to run. The kids are all going to play basketball so I will finish this post later :)
Once the sister was no longer with me it made me have to initiate conversations at the door/gate/fence.. It was really cool:) It's so fun to speak to others even if you don't speak the local language. I only found Spanish speaking people, but the experience was wonderful!! Many of the friends got interested ones.. but my greatest service this far has been the Coasta Rica family that I met in Boquete Tuesday. So to update on that, Dan, the brother from Boquete, picked the family up yesterday to bring them to David (so they could bus to Boca del Toro). But the guy was sooo interested the other day when I informally talked with him. So Dan drove them so he could befriend them and take that time to witness to them. To sum up how wonderfully it went, Dan said to Sebastian (the husband), I know you aren't a brother now, but I know you will be one. Sebastian believes Jehovah will send someone to him in the Bocas. Talk about wonderul. It's so great to see people be soo receptive to the truth! And it's wonderful when Jehovah allows us to have a tiny piece in it. So that made my week:) I hope that if they are still in the Bocas when we go at the end of the month, that we will get the pleasure of running into them. It would make me sooo happy!!
So after lunch (at lunch there were about 18-20 of us witnesses there at the Chinese restaurante which is a great witness in itself) we all re-grouped and some headed back to their hometown (most of the friends out in service don't live in David), my girls and I went out a but longer with some friends that had some Bible studies and return visits to go on. Tho several of them weren't home (due to school finals and such- she teaches some college students and professors the Bible) we made a good witness for their neighbors and spoke with them when possible. But the best call was with a return visit they just got that morning (they got a boy earlier at the door who didn't speak English but said to come back to speak to his mom since she speaks English). So the mom comes to the gate, lets us in..and it went as smoothly as you could imagine. She started by saying that she was raised Catholic (Cat-o-lick) but that she didn't like how at church people will say hi to her but in public they ignore her.. so she doesn't like the hypocriticalness. Understandable. So we went into the magazine that helps start a Bible study and talks about the condition of the dead. She really liked looking up the scriptures that answer the questions in the magazine. It was wonderful and we are going back next Wednesday. She was such a sweetheart :)
Then we headed to Volcan about 4pm and enjoyed the rainy drive back too. It was a little scary passing people in the pouring rain but I figured the brother driving knew what he was doing :) We made it home safely and that was the end of the exciting evening that we had. We did watch a movie but I fell asleep during it.. :( Our first TV viewing since we've been here.. I will post some pics later. All my love <3
