Today started off rather slowly. We let the children stay up late, plus we had a local boy stay the night that has befriended Aidan. (Aidan has been the only guy in the house for nearly 2 wks..I'm sure you can feel his pain:) The boys played..well, like boys.. It went well tho, no spankings needed. After doing the Bible Reading for next week we played a game called Taboo. It reminds me of the TV game Pyramid. It was soooo much fun. So please when we get back to the states invite us over to play it -and we can bring it, actually, because Gary gave us his game after we played it once with him-we've yet to play it again tho :(
After the game the boys played video games and watched a movie while my girls and I retired to my bedroom and watched a movie. We were all piled on a queen size bed, they call it a double here and I think it is a smudge smaller? We all layed across the bed sideways and tried to finish the movie Emma that we had started a few days earlier. But we fell asleep again.. this time we only made it 20 more mins thru.. hahaha (by the way, Harriette got a pic of us all sleeping like that..I will post it on here)
Harriette and I woke by 7 this morning and chatted over a cup of coffee (don't freak, I was just trying to keep the bowels moving:) there is sooo much beans and rice here.. ). I have really enjoyed the mornings that Harriette and I have had the chance to chat without children busseling around. Well it lasted for nearly 2 hours, the girls started waking one-by-one and the boys were en suit. Then Doug and Dakota (his dog as most of you know) stopped by on their way home from their daily walk. We all chatted for about a half hour or so and looked up a local brother here online who is very famous. He was pretty much the start of Ragge in Panama. He was baptised in 2007 and I see him everytime in David, he is very active in that congregation helping the English and is always being used by the brothers at the meetings/field service that we've attended there.
So after Doug left we cooked the kidlets breakfast and then let them putt around for a few hours. We were wanting to go swimming but by the time everybody got motivated it was too late in the day because I had made plans to attend the Bible Study/Book Study portion of the Spanish meeting.. Peggy goes, Andrea goes and Rochel goes (you guys know Peggy, and the other two sisters are locals here in Volcan-but not originally).
Evening came and the girls and I started packing up all the stuff that we don't currently need (or at least won't need for the next few days) to lighten our 'packing load' for Saturday. That went rather smoothly and then I started getting ready for the Spanish meeting. Andrea picked me up, it was raining (which I really didn't mind but I didn't want to turn down her hospitality:). We got to the meeting about 20 minutes before it started. I was kind of embarrassed at first feeling like the friends would be thinking "what are you doing here if you can't speak a lick of Spanish?!" But of course they weren't thinking that..and I quickly got past my nerves. See I've learned to speak just enough Spanish to get myself in trouble, you know what I'm talking about. If you say, "como este?" how are you.. Ya, I can't understand unless the response is just "well" or "very well". :( But nontheless, it was such a priviledge to meet so many friends and hug and kiss without really being able to communicate with them. Just knowing we have the truth in common is so priceless!!
Now, about the meeting.. The young brother that said the prayer thanked Jehovah for the few of us English speaking friends that came to the meeting, for our effort. It was quite special. And during the book study..would you believe it if I said that I actually commented?? You know I'm shy-ish, at times, especially when all the attention is on me.. but I really wanted to participate.. My comment wasn't anything profound by any stretch of the imagination.. The question was about how Jesus' apostles responded to the persecution in the first century (and why).. I only answered the first part of the question.. and in broken Spanish at that.. I said, "reaccion con gozo". (responded with joy) Now the interesting part was I had NEVER said 'reaccion' or 'gozo' ALOUD before.. until I said it into the mic!! (are you feeling my nervousness??!) So I said a super quick prayer to Jehovah as my hand went up, then the brother called on me saying 'Hermana Senorita' hahahah!!! -sorry, that means Miss Sister.. if he only knew- see the girls didn't come with me to the meeting so he had no way of knowing I wasn't single or without children.. Good news is, nobody laughed at me :) I could have died anyway from nerves. But Jehovah helps (as Jan always reminds me :). Oh too, I attempted to sing the opening song in Spanish (I did it softly enough to not disturb those around me- since I don't know HOW to read Spanish). It was fun tho!!
After the meeting Andrea came by and let me help show her how to upload and save pics on her computer. How to organize them by folders, name them, move them..delete them..I think that was about it.. We had a good time just doing that together. I really need to get a picture of her posted on here. I will get some pics of the local Volcan friends tomorrow. They are having a get together for us tomorrow evening to say goodbye. (My girls and I are actually leaving Volcan Saturday instead of next Wed. On my next post I will put our new itinerary on there for those of you who care.)
I must get going to bed. We are getting up early for service in David tomorrow. All my love. Here are the only 2 pics we took today (actually I didn't take either.. Harriette took one and Asa took the other).
