Well we made it down the mountain 'safely'.. alive at least :) That road is insane, to say the least. The yellow lines on the road are merely suggestions around here.. same with the km/h signs.. So it always makes our driving..colorful. (on our way home this evening we saw a truck flipped up-side-down..I got a pic and posted it on here..but it was a 'drive-by' shot so it isn't very clear)
Back to our day.. We arrived in David just in time for the service meeting, and of course the Circuit Overseer was leading out. There was a rather large group that met there. Let me think of how many came.. Hmmm.. our 5, the Blackards, the Isaacs, Paul, the Russells, the Lees, the CO and his wife, Caroleena, Gorge, Angel, Desire, 2 sisters that just flew in, the Gilbys.. and I can't think of anyone else.. But I'm surely missing someone. So that makes at least 27 people. Actually, that was likely it.. I took a pic of several of the friends and posted them on here today.
In service Zoe got to work with the CO and his wife, Asa worked with the Lees (and I made sure to tell them 'Hi' for you guys- Jan), and Aliah was stuck with me..poor girl. We had a great time!! I was able to find a few people who spoke English, and one lady accepted the magazines and another lady wanted the Bible Teach book. She said she is Catholic and isn't interested in changing her religion (of course that's not what we want anyway..we just want people to have the chance to learn the truth for themselves, and then decide what they want to do with it). So I was thrilled that she was so interested in learning what the Bible really teaches. Then we popped in to a grocery store to use the restroom and I ran in to an older man that I have seen all over Chiriqui, Panama it seems. If you've followed this blog I believe I mentioned him before (I thought I had but my memory ISN'T the best). We met him at lunch the first few days we were in Volcan at Valley over the Moon and we chatted with him and his wife. Then we ran in to them the next week in Boquete at the Gringo Market..then today again at the store. Talk about making a good witness. He has already met like 20 witnesses and seems to like us well and feel comfortable talking to each of us :) Will keep you posted if we run into him again.
Lunchtime came and a group of 13 of us went to a Chinese Restaurant. We just got veggie chow mein and split it, it was pretty good and CHEAP!! Love that :) That is where we were when I got the pic of Aliah and Asa with Paul (Paul is having a huge group of friends over for Volleyball this Sunday- wahoo!!! you guys know how much we love Volleyball!!)
After lunch my girls wanted to stay out in service with Paul, so A & A and I and another sister stayed out til 330. We just did Paul's return visits but they were all great and seemingly progressive, and very interested in learning what the Bible teaches on the subjects they were interested in.
After that we took the girls for homemade icecream that has NO dairy in it. For everybody, including me since there was no dairy, and it was only $2.50! :)
Then we met up with other friends so we could get a ride back to Volcan. When we did we kept running into witnesses from all over. See one of the friends was holding literature in his hands outside of Price Smart (it's a mini Sams club) and like 4 different people came up to us and told us what congregation they were with. Of course we all exchanged hugs, greetings and smiles. It's always such a wonderful feeling to see the brotherhood :)
Anyway, we made it back home (along the way I bought 8 small pineapples for $1 and 20 bananas for $1 :) I made speghetti for the children for dinner (sauted me veggies with pineapple) while the children, plus Halden (a local friend), played outside. When we first got home they played 'volleyball' with the neighbor children (while we waited to get an extra key to our house because Aidan accidentally locked the house with the keys InSide the house:).. Their version of volleyball was with a fence as the net. Check out the pic down below. Anyway, after dinner we all did the Bible reading together and then played Taboo. It was all sooo much fun.
But I am thoroughly exhausted now and am heading to bed. It's nearly midnight and the kidlets are still up all playing together. We decided to let them stay up as late as they want tonight since they haven't done that yet.. Too we don't have specific plans for tomorrow so it's fine for them to sleep in as late as they want. Ya for them :) (we may go swimming tomorrow, but are unsure until everyone wakes) Good night for now. Love to all <3
